Like many fashion influencers, Eva started her fashion journey through a blog that she set up ten years ago, thus being a pioneer in the blogging enterprise. She exudes her love for the 70s and 90s fashion through her style choices and has developed over the years a tremendous passion for beautiful and luxurious things as well as creative people. The fashion blogger is set up in London with her husband and son but doesn’t forget her Czech origins as she also contributes as a digital editor for Harper’s BAZAAR Czech Republic. Today, Eva presents to us her take on sustainability in the fashion sphere and the advantages of purchasing secondhand.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Due to the nature of what I do, I am not a prime example of being overly sustainable; however, I believe everything is about balance. I try to make small steps like buying vintage, explore car boot sales, resell my items as well and also favor sustainable clothing lines at major high-street chains. If everybody would make even one step towards a more sustainable life as a whole it would make a huge difference.

What do you want to bring to your Instagram community?

After many years I realized Instagram should be about real experience. I deeply hope we will see more of what Instagram was at the beginning. Content that was not forced, it was not curated, and it was about instant experience and images. I want people to see the real me, and I try to share a bit of my life, house, family, fashion, shopping, lifestyle. I am all about finding people that are on a similar frequency and enjoy what I bring them. I am at the point to be myself and not the person I think they want me to be. I think itis time to throw away masks and stop being who you are not in order to attract more followers.

Why did you choose to consume secondhand?

Shopping secondhand has many advantages but also disadvantages. The main disadvantage is that my audience cannot buy the same item and that is what usually makes them upset. However, there are many positive things about shopping secondhand. I can think of good prices, recycling, having unique items that have a story to tell. The right vintage piece can also increase in value so can be an investment especially when it comes to handbags or jewelry. I also feel some vintage pieces have incredible quality, great fabrics, and fantastic tailoring. Well-chosen vintage pieces can be the last cherry on the cake for any outfit.

What is your best luxury secondhand purchase? What does that mean to you?

I bought a small Fendi Baguette and it is such a cute bag. I would love another one if not two LOL. Baguette has had such a comeback especially the vintage pieces and it brings me back to Sex And The City times. I will never forget how we used to do SATC marathons at Uni with my friends and admiring the fashion. I also have a lot of vintage belts and that is my true passion. I bought a stunning vintage belt about 12 years ago at Broadway market for 10 £. When I googled the designer some of these were selling for 1000 £ online. I still have it and always get a lot of compliments.

How do you implement sustainability into your daily life?

When it comes to everyday life it was my husband that has had the biggest impact. I would say he is way better than me and always pushes me to do more. However, for us, it is about the small steps I talked about before. It is things like using shopping bags we already have, recycling, using steel straws, reusable cups, using food waste for compost, and even something as small as growing what we can in our garden. It makes a difference if you have your own tomatoes or herbs with no plastic waste. When it comes to fashion I try to resell things I do not wear, give to charity or to friends. One of my friends is amazing at being sustainable and loves when she can get her hands on some pieces from me. I am also registered on an app called By Rotation where you can list your clothes and other people can rent them. This is an amazing idea as you get to wear the item and others too. They buy less and just simply rent other people’s fabulous clothes.
